From Shared Vision to Collective Action

With Phoebe Tickell (Moral Imaginations)

What would your partnerships look like if everyone at the table – funders and funded alike – could genuinely imagine the futures you want to create together? What shifts when strategy emerges from possibility rather than incremental improvement?

In this participatory session, Phoebe Tickell guides participants through the living practice of imagination activism – exploring how moral imagination operates not just in individuals, but in organisational cultures and collaborative relationships. Through a mix of brief examples and case studies, and collectively developed exercises, participants will directly experience how imagination shifts mindsets and, crucially, how that shift generates new action.

Participants – whether from grant-making foundations, operational nonprofits, or hybrid organisations – will leave with practical tools to embed moral imagination into their philanthropic practice, and a felt understanding of why imagination is the leverage point so many partnerships are still missing.

Ensemble, plongez dans l’univers de l’improvisation pour apprendre à réagir à l’imprévu, à accueillir les erreurs comme des opportunités et à oser faire, tout simplement.

Diese Session verbindet Impact Investing, unternehmerische Förderung und aktuelle Forschung des CEPS der Universität Basel – und liefert konkrete Impulse für Stiftungsräte und Führungspersonen: für wirksamere Förderpartnerschaften, zukunftsgerichtete Investitionsentscheide und den konstruktiven Dialog mit Behörden.

Following a brief introduction, two foundations with one of their partners will share how they developed their partnerships in line with the goal of localisation, how shifting aid flows and other dynamics are affecting their relationships, and what changes in their practices they are working on. You will then be invited to join small, facilitated peer-coaching groups (in EN/FR/DE) to share and reflect on live questions on your partnership practice and localisation ambitions.

This session is co-organized by the International Cooperation Working Group of SwissFoundations.

Changer de perspective, renforcer les synergies : un parcours interactif pour un dialogue d’égal à égal

Pour une collaboration efficace entre fondations et ONG, la confiance et la sécurité psychologique sont de véritables leviers. À l’ère de l’intelligence artificielle, les deux parties sont particulièrement sollicitées : le nombre de demandes de financement augmente et leur traitement devient plus complexe. Chacun peut contribuer à apaiser cette situation.

À travers ce parcours, nous approfondirons la compréhension mutuelle : explorez, au fil de 5 à 6 stations, comment un dialogue humain peut rendre les processus de financement à la fois plus efficaces et plus audacieux.

Partagez vos bonnes pratiques et vos idées via un QR code. Lors d’un temps final animé, ces contributions seront mises en commun pour dégager une vision d’ensemble et ouvrir de nouvelles perspectives pour une collaboration porteuse d’impact.

Ce parcours vous permettra de mieux comprendre les réalités de travail de vos interlocuteurs (fondations ou organisations à but non lucratif) et d’utiliser ces clés pour faciliter la communication. Contribuez à l’élaboration d’une vision partagée à partir des retours collectifs, afin de faire émerger des pistes concrètes pour l’avenir.

Just Transition (JT) addresses the social challenges arising from the profound changes required to respond to environmental limits. It helps identify socioecological risks affecting specific groups and regions, and develop measures to reduce their unequal impacts. While widely used internationally, JT remains overlooked in Switzerland. The session introduces the concept, explores its relevance for philanthropy, and concludes with a roundtable with representatives of philanthropic organizations. 

This session is co-organized by the Environment and Sustainability Working Group of SwissFoundations.

Quiz trifft Zukunftswerkstatt: in der Future Proof Quiz Show ringen wir in Teams um die besten Antworten auf die Zukunftsfragen des Sektors. Das Quizformat bringt Menschen ins Gespräch, verbindet unterschiedliche Erfahrungen und lädt dazu ein, ungewöhnliche und gerne auch verrückte Ideen zu entwickeln. Zum Schluss küren wir die Quiz-Champions mit dem Applausometer.
Offen für alle, die Spass, Ernst und Neugier verbinden wollen, um neue Wege für den Sektor zu finden.

«Hot Topics» und «Hot Takes» im Recht der Förderstiftungen

Was tut sich im Stiftungsrecht – und was bedeuten die jüngsten Entwicklungen für die Praxis von Förderstiftungen? Die Legal Session greift unter anderem die Revision des Geldwäschereigesetzes (GwG), die aktuelle FDP-Motion (24.4514) und den Dauerbrenner der unternehmerischen Fördermodelle auf – praxisnah eingeordnet und auf den Punkt gebracht. Zwischen den Themenblöcken laden kurze Q&A-Runden dazu ein, Fragen zu stellen und eigene «Hot Takes» einzubringen.

Research shows that compelling narratives trigger the same neurochemical responses as human connection, making documentaries one of the most effective yet underused tools in philanthropy. This session highlights an unexpected collaboration between two Swiss foundations and what it produced. From that experience, participants will be invited to explore the concept of ‘impact storytelling’ as a complementary tool to support their philanthropic strategies.

Exploring trust, power, and incentives in knowledge transfer

Why does evidence fail to translate into action? This session challenges a common assumption: that we need better dissemination. Instead, we explore how human dynamics—trust, power, incentives, identity—determine whether knowledge flows or gets stuck. Through honest provocations and interactive case analysis, participants develop concrete interventions and leave with a practical framework for more effective knowledge transfer.

Partizipation beginnt vor ersten Formaten und zeigt sich in Annahmen über Macht, Vertrauen und Rollen. Durch das Hinterfragen dieser Prägungen und den Austausch konkreter Erfahrungen wird sichtbar, welche kulturellen Voraussetzungen echte Beteiligung ermöglichen. Praxisbeispiele zeigen etwa, wie Förderorganisationen Entscheidungsprozesse transparenter gestalten, Fördernehmende frühzeitig in die Entwicklung von Programmen einbeziehen oder bewusst Räume für ehrliches Feedback schaffen.

Entre quiz et atelier prospectif, le Future-Proof Quiz Show invite les participant·e·s à réfléchir en équipe aux grandes questions d’avenir du secteur. Ce format ludique favorise les échanges, croise les expériences et encourage l’émergence d’idées originales, voire audacieuses.

Pour clôturer la session, les équipes seront départagées à l’applaudimètre pour désigner les champion·ne·s du quiz.

Ouvert à toutes celles et ceux qui souhaitent allier plaisir, réflexion et curiosité pour imaginer de nouvelles voies pour le secteur.
